Tips to Select Computer For Day Trading

By Denis Kristanda of Clamnote International

If you are out there in the market looking to buy a new computer for your day trading or index trading or eminis trading, the chances are that many shop will charge you premium for what so called "trading computer"

This is really quite overcharged and maybe considered a rip-off for some. For trading, your computer doesn't need to be the fastest with top notch CPU, graphics card and 5 big monitors.

Unfortunately, most of the traders are not computer expert, and they will just believe whatever they are told by so-called computer trading expert. Of course what they offer is good for trading as it's an overkill but for budget conscious trader probably you need to know the truth.

If you are into computer game, you will find that it requires full 3D simulation/rendering, detail sound effects, detail environment/background, very responsive and with million of color and pixel need to be rendered in every second.

Yes, in trading, you will need quite a lot of memory to hold those real time data quite fast, but no 3D simulation, just 2D graphics, no sound system, no million of colorful pixel, no shadows to render, no milliseconds rendering, etc. So, the requirement is really not that high. But, of course the computer guy will sell you the most expensive one.

What constitute decent computer for a day trading/eminis?
1. 2 monitors are enough: you just need to run charting software, execution software and internet browser to check current event
2. Big RAM: 4GB for 32-bit operating system, 6GB for 64-bit one.
3. No need a top notch CPU and graphics card. Just not necessary.

That's the core, everything else is just additional.
